Our Story

Hey, I’m Ashly—Founder of Cosmos’ Lounge.

When I was a teen in Bradford, I felt like there was nowhere to go and nothing to do. Cosmos’ Lounge was created out of my desire to change that narrative. Cosmos is my answer to the challenges I faced and the challenges today’s teens still navigate. It’s proof of what’s possible when young people are given a platform to lead, connect, and shape their own future.

Before Cosmos, I spent about 15 years working in aquatics. I started out here in Bradford at Callahan Park when I was 15 years old. The teens now are the kids I taught swim lessons to years ago. After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford with my degree in Business and Sports Management, I moved to Charlotte, NC, where I was the aquatic director at Mecklenburg Swim Association. After moving back to town, I served as a Senior Aquatic Director for the YMCA. My whole career was really about the same thing Cosmos is about now: showing up for young people, building trust, and creating spaces where they could grow.

In 2024, I took a chance on myself, and on the community by opening a teen center. I started Cosmos' Lounge because Bradford's teens needed what I didn't have — a real place to be teens. This isn't a passion project I started on a whim. It's the result of nearly a decade and a half of working with young people, and a lifetime of knowing exactly what was missing.
