Why This Matters

Across the country, teens are losing access to places where they can safely connect, explore their interests, and build real-world confidence.
Cosmos' exists to change that.


The Afterschool Alliance has found that programs like Cosmos' help teens build social skills, confidence, and stronger ties to their community — and we see it every week.

Before opening our doors, Cosmos' Lounge surveyed 374 McKean County community members — 88% of them teens under 18 — to find out what Bradford, PA needed from a teen drop-in center. The results shaped everything we do: game nights (157 votes), movie nights (152 votes), and dedicated teen-only hours (133 votes) topped the list of requested programming, alongside strong interest in comedy nights, arts & crafts, and mental health support. On the community side, respondents ranked job opportunities, affordable housing, and public safety as McKean County's top concerns, followed by education, mental health, and healthcare access. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving grades 6–12 in Bradford, PA, Cosmos' Lounge builds its free programs directly around this data — real feedback from real teens and families in our community.
